Born August 16, 1985 in Santa Ana was introduced to the music scene as a very young child. Father, Anthony Fairchild was a successful dancer/performer who hailed from Chicago, Illinois and settled in Los Angeles in the late 70’s. Not prone to dancing like his father, eMel, whose real name is Michael Fairchild, picked up the love of Hip Hop by watching and listening with his father. The art of knowing what caught the ear became an instant hobby. Feeling the crowd became an obsession. eMel first got a feel of the turntables in 2001 at a friends house, and has been in love ever since. You can catch him along side DJ Ernie-C and Emcee Classiq all over Orange County and Los Angeles. You can also check him out on Myspace.

Whether it was riding in the back seat of his uncles Monte Carlo bumpin’ funk or sitting on the stairs while his parents were in the backyard with friends groovin’, to a little Latin Freestyle, music seemed to be everywhere Ernie-C turned. Growing up he would have the radio on from the second he woke up, singing along with his sisters while they got ready for school, until his eyes could no longer bear to stay open, sometimes singing the words to songs while half asleep. So when he graduated high school in 2003 it only seemed fitting to use the money he received from his family to purchase his first set of turntables. Just 6 months after his big purchase he went to boot camp and would serve 5 years in the Marine Corps, making it hard for him be fully committed to djing. Now out of the service, Ernie-C has made djing one of his top priorities and is constantly trying to improve his performance to entertain the crowd.

Funk and disco, you get so much love from the old timers and the music is full of fun. Our era doesn't even come close to what our parents were groovin' to in the clubs.
Who/What made you want to start djing?
I've always loved music, I used to get in trouble for listening to music while doing my homework when I was younger. What really got me interested in djing was The Scratch Documentary by Doug Pray. That movie was incredible!
